Mono's and coloration

There are 3 factors

1. Genetics (can't control this)
2. Diet (a varied and complete diet is best)
3. Water chemistry ( do a lot of water changes your p-bass will thank you)

PH could also be a factor but I wouldn't go messing with your ph just keep it stable

:iagree: Although you can control the genetics w/tank raised if you know the parents of the fry. Only the male will have the hump you are looking for.
 
Wild caught Peru Monos tend to be very showy when they mature. Here is a pic of one that I grew from 4" to about 17" before he passed. Was an awesome fish.
