So Monster had some BD rays in stock. I inquired about them, and they told me that they dont have the bd rays in store, but at different location. I have been seeing this a lot with stores in the city, where they hide the rays in a room where they cant be seen by the public.

So they want me to drop a deposit on the fish without even seeing it. Its the camera phone era, and they cant even provide me with pics of the pair. So I tell the employee, why should I pay a deposit for fish I have not seen, and they turned it into a take it or leave it situation. When you are spending $1200 on a pair of rays, I dont think a picture of the pair is asking too much esp with so much variations between black diamonds. And if I dont like what I see, do i get a refund??? I just dont think this is the way to do business, and its not like they are selling 5 inch BDs at fire sale prices.

The other day one of the employees (the short asian man who is always in the basement) tried to sell me some darker motoros, possibly hybrids, as pure black diamonds. I and the other customers in store had to tell him those looking nothing like BD'S. It was such bull, esp when they dont even sell BD'S on site. Now is th employee trying to knowingly rip me off or they dont even know what they have in stock. Either are not cool.

Never had any issues with them. They get so much stuff in I can see them needing to keep them elsewhere due to rays needing more water but b!tching about it here isn’t really going to help you get the Rays. There’s plenty of people who are able to hand pick stuff... maybe they seem to think your more of a window shopper or maybe that “short Asian” wants to mind fu<k you into making this thread ranting lol. Your better off buying from a breeder that can serve your needs.

The reason they have it in a non disclosed location is because it's illegal to sell in a pet shop. These pet shops also get visits from the department of health from time to time and they'll fine them for the rays.

You have to be a known customer to go there and hand pick them out. I've been there and bought several fish from them. but overall I don't think you'd be disappointed the reason for the deposit is so they don't waste time bagging up the fish and bringing them over to the store for you to not want them plus they're far too busy to go back and forth sending you pics. There's a reason they're the number 1 fish shop in the city.

Rays are illegal in New York?....that's news to me.

Only going into JFK airport last I knew and that the in shop thing was a gray area in the city limits but outside the ny city area totally legal. Nothing to do with the health department.
Weird....
