Hi, Friends , buddies :)

Well i am a monster cichlid guy kept oscars, flowerhorns, red devils and other monsters.
But
The problem what i faced while keeping them
They tend to fight a lot.And i end up changing my stock every other time.
As My family loves big fishes and i love small.
And i got this 100g 4.5 footer tank.
I want to start keeping discus, i know they require extremely clear water quality. I maintain it no problem.
There are few questions revolving in my mind.

1. Are discus really really delicate fish, that if you tap your hand to the tank they die.

2.DO they tame as other cichlids like oscars and flowerhorns.

3.What are there feeding habits.
4. What other fishes can be kept with discus like neon tetras.

1. Are discus really really delicate fish, that if you tap your hand to the tank they die. No this is not true.

2.DO they tame as other cichlids like oscars and flowerhorns.
Once they get to know you/associate you with food they will swim up to the front of the tank in anticapation of being feed.

3.What are there feeding habits. They are grazers and feed slowly looking for food on the bottom of the tank, when they spot food they sometimes will blow a stream of water at it to raise it off the surface and eat it.

4. What other fishes can be kept with discus like neon tetras. Yes, Neons and Cardnal Tetras can be kept with Discus.

Wild cought Discus will require very soft and acidic water, however most tank raised fish acclamate easly to slightly hader water and a nutral Ph. They do require very celan water to thrive and grow to their full potential and weekly 50% water changes should be performed. Overall they are not that much harder than any other fish kept in optimum conditions, they are just less tolerant of lazy fishkeepers.

Thanks for the info Aquanero i really really appreciate it. Lately i am so confused to what to keep in my 4.5 footer tank so i come up with this idea. As i wanted to have some schooling small fishes to in the tank it looks awesome. and the only cichlid which dont eat small fishes is discus i guess.
And the coloration is just awesome in discus.
thanks for the info buddy.
one more thing can i keep a red devil partitioned in a discus tank.
or should i remove it.

Please remove it. It will stress the Discus badly, do not even consider it. You could also keep Angel Fish but not with Neons or Cardnals as they are part of an Angel Fish's natural prey. However somthing a little larger would be ok like a Red Eye or Head and Tail Light Tetra would be fine, just another idea.
