Here's few questions for you characin keepers. All of these questions are supposing the tank is 10x5x3 and fish are full grown

1) can armatus be kept in groups?
2) can armatus (either solitary or in groups) be kept with hoplias aimara or GATF?
3) can GATF be kept in groups

uuuuuh, bump

1. Not likely but possible
2. Aimara would kill everything GATF would get beat up by payara
3. sure

1.) research it
2.) research it
3.) ATF are illegal in florida, so your #3 is shot down

all your questions can be answered by using the "search" feature.

All are good answers to your question. All of course are opinions as these fish are so rare in the hobby you don't have 100 people trying the same combo to come up with a percentage of how many work and how many don't.

10x5x3 is a huge tank. If any size tank can mix multiple armatus it will be the huge sizes. GATF as said should be ok in group. Neo had a group and reported no real aggression towards each other in juvi sizes. And aimara no one has really tried in "community" or not that I've heard of but people are going off of rumored attitude. Which maybe right.

I'm betting either Jlnguyen, R1, or someone similar has tried gatf/armatus together and can tell you the outcome/findings.

Considering probably less then 10 people in the world have tried any of the above options are you really expecting som good answers from experience or just opinions?

If it were me Id do a lone armatus in a 10x5 and make it a bio-tope with all kinds of smaller fish in there thatd hed ignore like little cardinals, corys, small cichlids, ect...THAT would be cool!

Matt, next time you remind me that ATF are illegal in FL i'm mailing you a grenade LOL

the reason i ask is because one of my dreams for a fishroom is a killer characin tank. I was hoping that in a tank like that I could fit in 2 of the 3 fish I listed. I know lot's of people are potentially getting armatus from rich, so I was wondering how many would cooexist in a tank that big, seeing how the have ample space...

Honestly pm Jlnguyen, Michael, R1, even unknownuza13, etc as they I believe could give a better opinion as far as multiple or even singular armatus/gatf mixing. Some have had both species, some have had multiple armatus. Those are the opinions that will count.

In the end though I don't think you'll find a for sure answer. As said there just aren't that many or possibly anyone who's tried in that size tank. And just because one persons does/doesn't work doesn't mean you'll have the same results. Nothing is ever written in stone. I mean that in an encouraging way.
