How much would it be reasonable to buy him?

He's 6" from the start of the mouth to the start of the tail.

Do you think his color will grow more intense in the near future?

1. It's a decent shortbodied fader. Prices vary between regions. He'd probably go for 175 max in Houston but pet stores tend to over charge imo.

2. Seeing as that he's in a pet store, chances are he's not getting fed the proper food/given the proper tank size. He'd probably color up and improve in appearance under your care.

Don't know much about improving the color but that fish has a lot of potential in body mass. He looks starved to me. Belly is shrunk and you can almost see backbone in the tail area. Two weeks of heavy feeding and good food he will be awesome! BTW a fish is only worth what you are willing to pay for it
 
+1 +1, looks like he's either underfed or not fed a well nutrition.
what would I pay? I'd probably pay 100 tops for him ONLY because of the heavily visible malnutrition
 
that's a monster. He's really cool. If he can breed that would be great
