What works for you ? One thing that works for me and all the setups ive done is to not overdo lighting. If say i own a 180 and needs two 36" strip lights, i usually just go ahead and buy one 36 inch with dual strips. If i have the light on too strong, they tend to be jumpy or it takes a while before they are at ease with their surroundings.

Go stronger. If you plan on taking pix....go way stronger. I'm experiencing this right now. I'm pissed at my lighting so i have 2 250wall metal halides on the way. JUST for taking pix ( i dont want to cook the fish:))

I Agree.. i hate taking pics of my fish right now because it is so dark. I need stronger lighting ( just of pics taking purposes only) other than that, i usually go darker that the recommended lighting.

My pics come out fine with the recomended lights.... Personal opinion is the camera. My digitals have always brought nice material...

will you share these pix?:D Throw some in your gallery and then give me some suggestions haha

forget about taking pics, the fish being comfortable is the most important thing. I often mask lights in tinfoil.

The less light the less skittish the fish are, imagine having a spotlight shining on you all day.

I only have the insanely bright lights for taking pix...thats it. they are removable and otherwise my tanks are fairly dim.

I agree with you:)
