I'm sure everyone has read how pacu eat nuts in the wild (and I'm not referring to New Guinea fishermen). Pacu have very strong powerful jaws. One of my pacu bit me, but fortunately he didn't bite the finger tip, and he was only checking things out and wasn't actually trying to eat me. I was waggling my fingers in front of him, so it was totally my fault. I have never trusted him since then. Pacu are very curious and use their mouths and teeth to check things out. My big boy Adonis has tried to bite the scrub brush when I've cleaned the tank. My Leonardo has never tried to bite me. A few months ago I carelessly forgot to put two tank lids back in place. Leonardo managed to jump up and slice off his lower lip on a tank lid edge. Until then, I had never seen his teeth. They are pretty scary looking.
My poor boy lost his grin when he lost his lower lip
My boys like to swim and rub against my hand when I'm tank cleaning. I'm a lot more wary of those teeth, now that I can see them
I really don't want to have an encounter with those teeth....
