Me and my buddies wanna go freshwater fishing. What's the best place to fish in Socal? Fishing spots, type of fish, what to bring and etc? Never tried so i need suggestions. Thank you! :)

all depends on what you wanna fish for. most of the lakes around socal hold monster fish (largemouth bass, striped bass, catfish). just depends on what you wanna try and catch. theres all kinda of different places you can try. some lakes of my choice are castaic, pyramid, piru, perris, casitas...

Old thread but came across it and asked a buddy who likes to fish in so cal and he suggested these spots....... Lake Cuyamaca....Sturgeons catch and release but they hooked and lost a huge sturgeon in 2012 in the 6ft + range. And too bad san vincente is closed but reopens 2014 huge cats 100lbers. Lake Sutherland got huge cats too double digets with a mix of blues, flatheads and channels being on the bigger side. Henshaw got big crappie and all you can catch carp. Salt water well that's a different story too. Leopards and dog fishes at coronado bay, halibuts and bat rays at San diego bay. Shovelnose sharks at blacks beach 2fter's to 4+ftrs 10min top 1hr fights with the occasional 2-5lb spot fin croakers. Dog beach in sd huge covinas in the 2-4lbers too. Well according to him anyways and he's a big time fisherman. I've seen his catches too.
