Hi guys

I am new to this forum, but not new to the hobby of aquarium keeping.
I have always been facinated by the "alternative" side of this hobby.

I am quite facinated by arowanas, eventhough I know non of the species are suitable for my aquarium.
But could you recommend some species that are suitable for my aquarium?

thanks in advance.

Best regards

Stefan

what are the demensions on the tank and whats your filtration??
Tank would be good for one Oscar or Green Terror.
You could get away with 2 of these if you plan on getting a bigger tank later.
2 Jack Dempseys or if you like bichers, 2 senegals or armoreds would be good.

These are all somewhat easy maintenance fish. they are the most popular in the hobby.

I have in my 75g an 8" oscar, two 5" jack dempseys and a 10" senegal bicher but I have a bigger tank to but them in later
but also my 75g is a 6 foot tank so they still have plenty of length to keep to themselves if they want.

If you want a nice fish that will probobly become your pet i would get a Oscar. I have two and they are awesome, also if you did ever plan to upgrade to a bigger tank you could get some catfish, but you WILL need a bigger tank sooner or later depending on what kind of cat you get.

Just looked up a senegal bichir. That fish looks like a beast. We are getting a Oscar tank setup soon. A couple oscars and a jack. The Senegal goes good with them? And how much would one cost?

Yeah I love bichirs. They usually have great personalities too. Even better is they are great for communities.

I would go with oscars or a single GT with a nice syno or cat. Oscars are amazing fish but are limited with tank mates in my opinion because of waste and they will eat everything! Lol! My GT took a long time to settle and now after about 10 weeks his colour is really coming out, along with flower horns probably best looking fish out there as far as pure colour goes. Good luck

Throw in another vote for an Oscar. I've got 3 now, and they are such a fun fish to keep. Tons of personality and lots of interaction.

Decorate your tank, plan to over filter and find yourself a good looking young one to watch grow. They are like little dogs, he/she will be a ton of fun to feed and watch.
