Ummm yeah, not really, quite the opposite really, but worth the look. He is a julidochromis Marlieri and I just got him today!! Had the tank setup two days ago and used one of my three filters I had running on an existing tank. Water is still a little cloudy from the sand. It's only a 10 gallon but it's all he needs. Might get him some tankmates if I do more research and get the right kinds. PH is about 8.6ish and there is Seachem rift salts in there for Tanganyikan specs. 6k lighting at about 80 watts (cfl's) and an AC50 filter (way more than I need) and Ebo/Jager 50 watt heater.

Nice Joe that tank is sweet! One suggestion if I may, take out the shell. Track down a few shells of a "nautilus" (<spelling?) Its a marine invertabrite and the colors would look awesome with the rockwork you've already done. ;)

^ found a pic of what I was talking about above. If I ever do a shelly tank I am using a ton of these. They look great in person too and give small places to hide..

nice setup, but you should consider to take out the shell, because if the water don't circulate well on the inside of the shell than you will get a very stink water inside (i don't know how to explain it but i'm sure its not good at all) imo

Julies....small but mighty! Your 10 looks even better with your new additions to it, shown in your newer posts. I think the shells are fine.

Have you ever checked out Julie Orantus? They look like auratus cichlids, but without the mbuna attitude.
