How does everyone else read this forum's name. I have always read it as monster being a size synonym eg i have a monster betta, a forum for people who want the biggest, best coloured healthiest fish they can get.
Recently I have seen a few people saying you can only class your self as a monster fish keeper if your fish grows over 2 feet in length which to me in the great scheme of things is still only a feeder fish also means some body who has a few carp shoved in a pond is more of a monster fish keeper then a dovii owner because the carp gets bigger

When I joined the forum I was under the impression that everyone here had 10,000 gallon tanks with red tail cats and pacu.

Yea guess there's a few ways to interpret it. To me it's more about the attitude and dedication to the hobby being monster but most my fish likely won't reach 24 inches so what do I know.

Same here.It actually put me off joining the forum at first.i thought, this won't be for me.
After taking the time to have a good read of some of the posts I realised that there is a lot more to the forum than the name suggests.
I'm always put off by things like, versus, biggest badass, and i guess I was by monster.
Having said that there is a lot of good content and generally I love the forum.

I don't really consider my Oscar and some of my other cichlids to be "monsters" at least compared to many of the other fish kept by others on this site but compared to my neighbors little community fish tank, I guess they are. Regardless, the amount of general fish keeping knowledge shared among members is outstanding. This is truly the best site out there. Always fresh new threads and tons of info on almost every aspect of the hobby.

I took me a long time to actually create an account because I was also put off by it. It wasn't until I noticed that a lot of my google searches when bringing me here that I decided to join.

Agreed, this is very much in line with the forum creator's mission statement.

I consider my betta a mini monster, he got the courage to bite back at the finger that occasionally enters his tank.
I would consider any fish in large tanks (like really big) with great water and food that grow to full genetic size a monster. I would in a flash upgrade my 70 to a 200 with the same fish as i have now to let them grow and have the best potential. If only money would allow
