My girlfriends mom likes to get me fish related gifts, and last year she got me a subscription to Freshwater and Marine Aquarium Magazine. She was asking me if I would like it renewed and I told her I would get back to her.

To be honest, every month I get excited that its about to come, and 95% of the time I am disappointed. Its all about tiny little tanks, and planted tanks, and saltwater tanks, and community fish....

Are there any good magazines out there that are geared to the Over-the-Top aquariums, like MFK ??

:iagree:

although isnt that kind of what the site is?
I'd hate to have the job of narrowing it down to ~50 pages though !!!

there really isnt any magazines about monster fishes. and i get you when u mean by small and planted tank only magazines. i bought one myself from my lfs for the heck of it and it showed only like small tropical schooling fish lol. i want monster fish magazines! haha

TFH is ok I just really dont care so much about saltwater tanks. Id be happy if it was 100% freshwater..

agreed. MFK magazine. Take the most discussed threads of every month and give plot summary of it. Also a page for POTM, TOTM, etc... also, monster of the month like TFH's plant of the month or invertebrate of the month. I'd definently subscribe to that. I enjoy reading from magazines/books instead of the computer screen cause i can take it where ever i want.

Maybe if we subtly drop the hint to the mods, they'll start something! A friend of mine publishes a really small niche magazine, and he loves it. And does very well at it. $$$$
I agree about taking the magazine with you. I can only view so many threads on my instinct phone!!

I agree. i subscribe to Tropical Fish Hobbyist, also. I don't have much interest in saltwater tanks. I wish they did have all salt and all fresh versions. november's issue has some pretty good articles that apply to monster fish aquarists as well as those with smaller tanks. The latest issue also has an article about flowerhorns. It would be nice to have a monster fish mag.
