Finnaly convinced my parents to let me get a pond!
So as soon as they said "yes" I ran out with a shovel,a rake and a water hose (outline). Well As soon as I got the out line and they finally agreed to the size, I started digging till my back hurt and the sun went down.. Well after two straight days of digging I finally got the depth and overall aperiance I want out of it..
The pond is sorta teardrop looking or figure eight... But the longest point is
16' long by the widest bowl part which is 10-11'wide then it slopes in to 4'wide then out again to about 8'wide. The deepest part in the big bowl area is 4' in depth the slopes up to 3'in depth the to 2'in depth and a little stepping area of about 16" in depth.. I have no idea of how many gallons this is..I guesstimated it at around 3400 gallons but it looks to be around 6000 gallons...

well anyway im making it out of pondliner, and for filtration I am using a huge 300 gallon or so box I got from "johnptc" Which I am going to try and make into a giant sump..If that doesnt work then it will be a sort of holding chamber for a couple canister filters (FX5's) and two big sand pool filters hooked up to a big arse UV sterilizer and inline heater's..

The Pond will be holding the following fish if I can successfully maintane heat of around 80 degrees...

Main Fish is my 14" Hydrolycus Armatus
then Goes my Monster jaguar cichlid "one eyed jack" 15"
then a couple O niger catfish johnptc gave me..
then some red devils (future breeding pairs) Live feeder makers...
and a couple silver arowanas I got for free followed by a bunch of other cichlids and catfish...

Anyway here are some pictures I got of the pond...Enjoy
-Updates soon..hopefully next weekned:popcorn:

Another old fashioned hole digging:headbang2

You did a seriously good job digging all that out in 2 days, hat off!

Niceeee....

looking good! that some crazy looking soil you have at your house!!!!

Thanks all

It was really hard to dig it.. especially after two feet...because it started going into layers of clay, then sand, then go hard compacted soil then to freaking hard as hell quarts then to a limestone, then back to clay and dirt:screwy:

But It didn't stop me
:)

Wow, cant believe you dug that yourself, saved yourself some nice dough on that one. Agree about the crazy soil, must have been rough, cant wait to see it finished though!!
