Dang those are some big pigs! I've tried using those big swim baits I always just end up catching big musky and northern with the occasional big bass. Maybe I gotta take a trip out to Cali.

The trophy Largemouth Bass anglers are almost a cult here in California and to catch them swimbaits is the technique of choice. Since swimbait went mainstream 5-8 pound bass are considered common and bass ten pounds and in to the teens seems much more regular.

That's crazy in Mn you catch one over 6 or 7 that's a monster my biggest is 8 too bad the picture is in the phone on the bottom of the lake. When you fish for these trophy bass is it usually deep?

It really depends, most of the time they catch these fish where the bait fish is located. That meaning different places through out the year.

If your attempting to use a Trout swim bait the best time to fish for them is when the water is cold. Winter through spring is normally the time to catch monsters over 15 pound.

I've caught some 12-14 lb bass too
