No all Leis we catch are are released, they are handled carefully in the water if caught off the bank and netted in a large fish friendly net if in the boat. Lipgrips are never used and if held for pic are supported horizontally.

There is a posession limit of one minimum size 50cm on both Jars and Leis most people cath and release. Some rednecks do eat them. Not the best eating from what I have heard. Far to precious to kill IMO slow growers and only a small number of young every year.
