Monster ReefOctopus with Purigen.

Best of luck, I hope it works for you.

I tried for 90 days by using 500ml in a Fluidized bed reactor, and although the purigen did get a little bit brown, I KNOW FOR A FACT that it absorbs more when in it's own media bags (100ml pouches) in my HOB's.

The reason I know is because I ran 4 100ml bags in my 2 HOB's AT THE SAME TIME I was running 500ml fluidized in my reactor(@ approx 50-100GPH from a SUNSUN 302B fitted with Ball Valve to lower flow on output), and they turned darker than the purigen in the reactor.

Water was always crystal clear even before the REACTOR experiment (just using the 4 100ml bags in my HOB's) but I thought for SURE I would see some SIGNIFICANT NITRATE reduction, but sadly.. NO I did not.

I have concluded that purigen does NOT work as well fluidized, as I had already read before on these forums, but needed to see for myself.

Anyway, I tore down that Canister/reactor experiement as I didn't need it on this tank (75g)which is already and STILL served by an FX6 and 2-300GPH HOB's. Oh yea, only one 12 inch Amph in this 75G during the test with Nitrates at steady 30-40ppm....

May your luck be better, please keep us posted....

it does actually work well fluidized ....but its got to be really moving which poses a issue because it can get out of most reactors due to the 200 micron pore size.
