yes there the largest fresh fish in the world there getting pretty rare hopefully they don't become extinct over fishing really hit hard on these fish plus there are proposed dams that would really hurt there population

In asia mekong can grow to 600+ lbs, also paroon sharks can grow to 300+lbs, in europe the wells can grow to more than 300 lbs recorded the last 100 years, but there is well documented cases of it over 18' long in the 1800s, and possibly over 1000 lbs, same with the mekong catfish in the 1800s. In south america there is the piraiba which the record is over 400 lbs, and many commercial fish are recorded over 500 lbs. In the last century they also were said to attain a weight of over 1200 lbs. Jau in south america can grow to 300+ lbs, and historically over 700 lbs. It's sad that all of these gorgeous giant catfish are dying out and becomming smaller as adults over time due to over fishing.
