This monster was recently caught in Bosnia.. some kind of ancient sucker that attaches on fishes

They're fairly common in the north west USA. They're saltwater "fish" but come up rivers to breed. Natives used to catch them and cook 'em up.

I ate lamprey when I was fishing during their season on lake Champlain, tasty stuff, the fact they only feed on blood translates to the taste

And starting to be in the NE area, I went there with my native friends family and we went on a res up there, it was awesome. Trust me, they still cook and eat em lol

Over the last few years lampreys have started migrating into the rivers here in NB as well, I've seen some big suckers (no pun intended lol) I never thought to eat one but might next time i spot one!
 
Last summer saw some guys at a local park catch a carp that had a freshwater lamprey attached to it. Here in Indiana, totally landlocked from any saltwater.
