Monster Tank Detractors..The Haters

Lets face it, not everyone has seen a hefty tank setup that most of us here are so
aware of. So do you have detractors, or haters that always have something negative to say whenever they see your pride joy?


My non fishkeeping friends would sometimes smile and tease that i would be setting up a chinese restaurant ( big tanks = chinese restaurant.LOL ). I would also hear the comments like " Your fish are so big and scary! " " When are we going to fry your fish?"

Im so used to it by now that i just smile and wont even say anything. Has this happened to fellow members?

Dont worry about it, not everyone understands and appreciates this beautiful hobby of ours and the fish that we keep. I get that all the time, even with my stingrays !

I do not have a monster tank but I still love the hobby, I am always teased over spending too much time in front of the tank.

i had pic on my folder, alot of people in my math class thoguht it was kool to have a big ass fish as a pet

I do get that alot. Everbody's telling me to et a dog or a cat cuz a fish you can't hug. I say to them, fish don't stink either.

fish may not be soft fuzzy and huggable, but damnit like all pets theyre still fun to have and give you a sense of acomplishment

Good answer Pangong and D! Growing out a massive arowana from a tiny 3 inch fry will definitely give you a sense of accomplishment. Scooping out poo at the park wont.

Yah alot of people go oh when we get to eat your fish? NO eat my fish =( esp my eel they always go ooo I bet your eel is tasty lets eat him, the thing is like 5 inches and as skinny as a pen. =( Ohhhh when my blue channel died they were like yah catfish for dinner ;_; meanie heads. Then they go why dont you get something normal and not slimy? I like my slimy fish!
