I never thought of posting this until now(I was there today), but my eye doctor has a 180-250 gallon tank in the wall in the waiting room.

He also has an old looking 20-21 inch sailfin(gibby) pleco. I used my elbow to the tips of my fingers(which is 20 inches) to measure him and he was just slightly longer.

Also there were a few clown loaches about 10 inches that looked old too.

Anyone else seen monster tanks in odd places?

Yeah same thing happened to my mother. She went to the doctors around here. I dont know what she saw though, doesn't know much about fish tanks and fish, but she said it was a big tank.

Yeah. There's a giant gourami tank at Hunan Palace in Everett, Wa. It's probably 500 gallons, underfiltered and overfed. The usual asian fish abuse theme. The fish are tolerating it, though, and are adult sized. They keep trying to add fish and the added fish die. I doubt they change the water in it very often.

I hate it when people tell me, "Oh, they had a huge fish tank! It had really big fish. Oh, i don't know, the silver and orange ones."

not really an odd place but at the bmw dealership where my mom bought her car in Newport Beach there was a 200g salt tank with a massive dragon eel and all kinds of crazy things.

The best part is when they say "It was this big" (holding hands about 3 feet apart...) It annoys me when people say "I had this huge fish tank" and it turns out to be less than 100 gallons lol. IMO, anything over 300 is a big tank. But looking at my 300 It feels small haha.
