twinns aquariams in stockton off of hammer lane wright of the 99freeway john the owner he'll take care of u im not sure how far stockton is from u but i drive the 1hr from where i live cuz hes got the best fish or can get them from u and the best prices also
Jo Jo Aquarium in Sacramento sells gulper cats. I haven't been to check it out myself, I live in the east bay and its a bit of a trek for me.
6th Avenue Aquarium in San Fransisco has a lot of cool fish, I see stuff there I never thought I'd have the chance to see. One thing, they're quality is baaad, be sure to treat anything you buy.
Concord Aquarium in Concord has a decent selection, but it is a tiny shop. Steve the owner is a great guy, he'll order fish for you, and he gets in neat stuff from time to time. He's got a very pretty Royal Clown Knife right now.

You could also come into contact with some of the importers on the site. A number can ship nationwide and some are CA based.
Also try randys fish palace. In stockton. He's great. Aqua readers in san bruno is an ok one great prices. Aquarium Concepts I. Dublin is fantastic. A lot accualy. Go on Google and type is fish store on maps.

When i was 6 he sold me a $20 convict pair, i was with my dad and my dad told me to pick my fish out, for some reason i was drawn to these stupid fish LOL i asked him and he was like for you $20 they usually go for much more, Im 16 now and i still regret it. My dad didnt realize what i had done till we hot in the car and he asked what fish i picked out.
