Along with buying a big Jad I picked up a breeding pair of Motagunse about 4" , paid $40 for the pair , are these fish hard to come by I have never seen them at any of our LFS before. I beleive them to be of the Red Tiger variety, didn't have much time to research them last nigh all I know is they are beautiful fish.

they are beautiful fish (especially the red tiger variety) and will grow to around 12-14". treat them just like jags basically though I've heard on average motaguense are more aggressive than jags though both are highly territorial. if they are a pair I'd give them absolutely no less than 75 gallons and have a divider on hand just in case they start getting rough with each other. 
Sounds like you got s steal of a deal. Motaguense are pretty hard to come by in my local pet shops so I would consider them semi rare.
