It finally happened over the course of last weekend - the four itty bitty baby O. heterospila (aka Monte Cristos) were moved from the temporary 75gal they've been in for a few months, into their permanent home - the 8ft long, 135gal. Knowing I would be moving them soon, and knowing how they would absolutely disappear in such a large space at such a small size, I found some locally bred baby marble angels to add to the tank with them so it didn't look completely empty while they grow. Seems to have been a really good call - the heterospilas were extremely shy in the 75gal tank, only ever really coming out of hiding at dinner time. But within a day or two of moving to the big tank with their new angelfish friends, they are extremely social and come to see me whenever I get near the tank now (further proof of what many of us have known for a long time about the usefulness of dither fish). Really looking forward to watching these guy mature. End goal is hopefully a breeding pair in the tank with a few smaller tank mates, but not sure what yet.
