Has anyone made their owne moon lighting system? How do you do it???

i used a weatherproof incandesent fixture i got from a hardware store and a low wattage blue light bulb(used for the 10g incandecent canopy) from my lfs. used some mounting hardware i also found at my lfs that is used for hanging flouresent bulbs, including the timer it cost me around $20 and its been running for a year no probs.

I want one of these as well. They are expensive though. What size do I use for ten gallon with a pleco?

naa. just go to your local computer store and buy 2 or 3 12 inch cold cathode bulbs and balasts. probably 20 bucks. then go to radio shack and get a little transformer anything from 9 volt to 12 volt will work but at 12 v it might be to bright. then put it all on a timer. cheep easy, i got mine under my florescent lights.

I was thinking about this and found some 3v LED Christmas Tree lights. I got several strings of 20 lights for a buck each (found at Goodwill). They had red plastic bulbs around them that I had to break off. The LED's turned out to be red but they still look cool on the tank. My knives are very active with them on. I am now looking at getting some blue (bluish white) bulbs to replace the red ones. The light string is excellent for changing LED's.

I took a neon tube (12v) that I had laying around and hooked it up to a ac/dc converter.
Works perfectly and I made it out of stuff that I had laying around.
