I am thinking about putting in a moon lighting system. My Black Ghost Knife only comes out at night, and I would like to be able to watch it when it is most comfortable. Would a moon light do what I want it to do? Such as cast enough light to view fish, but not be to overpowering and sent it back into hiding.

Arent ghost kinfe blind? Or am I thinking of something else?

Anyways, moonlighting will help you view your fish without them freaking out as much. I really cant think of any cons to having moon lighting, maybe costs?

Howdy,

I used a regular light bulb and a dimmer on my 80 gal ... chicks dig it ... more romantic than candles ;)

I also heard that ghost knifes are blind. However I think that they could be light sensitive. Any time when the tank and room lights have been off for awhile, and a light get turned on the ghost knife will vanish into the plants. I am hoping that a moon light will fool the fish into being alittle more brave.

i read somewhere they are blind and use a sonar to find there food plus lfs told me this when i bought mine

Howdy,

Their primary sense for orientation is certainly not sight. Otherwise, we couldn't fool them into "hiding" in transparent plastic tubes. However, I could bet there is a given photosensitivity. It doesn't require complex vision for differentiating between light and dark. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the moonlight works
