Hey guys. It's been a while, but that's mainly because everything has been going smoothly and I forgot to post updates.
But now I've run into a possibly major problem.
(This is going to be a longer post, because I want to include every detail)
I've had my Moonlight gourami for close to a year. And he was one of the most hardiest fish I've ever kept. He's survived a random ammonia spike, and a outbreak of neon tetra disease that wiped out almost all my Back Neons several months ago.
Months later I had a whole new school of Black neons that I quarantined this time, along with 2 of the survivors. And since then there hasn't been a single sign of the disease.
A while later I added a couple of my grown platy fry to the tank, as well as a Guppy that the pet store gave me when it was a fry. All were healthy, so I decided to add them to the tank. And the next day I wake up to all the new platys dead. The Guppy was alive and well however (and still is) as well as the original 2 platys I had (who were the parents)
Now this is important. I also have a 10g tank with some of the other grown platys from the same batch, and they all died too a few hours later. At first I thought that the platys died because of someone in the main tank. But that was obviously not the case
Fast forward to 2 months later. All the fish are fine, but I begin to notice that one of the original platys was acting wierd and having trouble swimming. So I quarantine him, then the other platy started acting very lethargic, so I quarantine that one as well. I've been treating them with aquarium salt for about 4 days now, and they are both starting to perk up. However one of them is still having swimming problems, but they are both eating and seem to be getting better.
But that brings me to today, or specifically this morning. And I find my Moonlight Gourami dead on the bottom of the tank. He has shown absolutely zero signs of anything, no bloating, no spots, his colors were fine, and nothing wrong with his scales. Just last night he was a active healthy and eating as usual.
Now he is dead with no signs pointing to why. At first I wasn't sure he was dead because he still looked healthy. I'm not sure if it has to do with the whole platy incident or what. I would really appreciate any advice or insight as to why he died and if my other fish are in danger.
