What do you recommend for tanks? I love them both but roots are expensive, and on a side note, how long does it take for driftwood to become waterlogged so it stays sunken?

depends on size and piece some driftwood may never sink, couple weeks atleast. Its called drift wood because it floats in the ocean. you probably want bogwood.

with the drift wood you can cheat and put weights in it.

Like using a flat piece of stone and drill into it? Where would you find cheap bogwood? Ebay i guess?

thats one techniques you see at the stores if its a big enough piece you could find a way to put it in side the wood.

i guess? google it is all i can say. i don't really like wood since it leeches tanins

Idk I just want a nice natural look to my tanks

Whats a tanin?

Ah, I see sir

Kanta, I have several pieces of Malaysian driftwood in my tank and haven't had any issues with it. If you soak it for a week or so before putting it in your tank you will have less discoloration from the tannins. I know that my Plecos (Bristlenose & Gibbiceps) both love the driftwood and spend plenty of time making sure it is cleaned before anything else is. I just recently picked up a nice piece of mopani that I plan on using for a 220 tank I am setting up. Will let you know how that works out. The malaysian driftwood does slowly decompose so it will have to eventually be replaced. The pieces that I have in now have been there for around a year or so and are still pretty sturdy.
