What would you choose? A golden dwarf moray or a snowflake? I have a chance to buy either.

The golden is a true one from Hawaii. It is really pale yellow in color. A friend is willing to sell it to me. The snowflake is at a lfs. I have seen both.

I like both; the golden because it will stay small and is rare in the hobby, the snowflake because I like the colors.

saw a big snow flake 1 in a small show tank in southampton pet shop.big, mad ,looking amazing fish.they give it to an aqurium in the end.

Snowflake, I don't care if the other is less common keep what you think looks cool.

i already have a golden, and i love it.

never kept a snowflake

my votes for the golden, if you change your mind you can always buy a 75 (since you're considering it i'm guessing you have the money and/or have a good size set up already?) and get a snowflake, it may be a while before you see another dwarf... took me 2 years to find one at an LFS

I say get both and have a tank set-up to hold them both.

Eel lover's are stuck with you here to. I was faced with the same decision once, Jewel or Snowflake so I could have a community I luckily had my desicion made for me when they sold the Jewel the day before and I luckily got to pick up a Snowflake and a White Ribbon. If you have to choose one I would go with the Snowflake personnaly. Full of personnality, community safe(If well fed), and when they get big they're amazing to look at. Mine has gone from a 14" Pencil width baby to a 21 inch, 2.5 inch wide monster who hunts for his food. Still has never bothered a single tankmate and luckily acts like a brother to my White Ribbon(Where my only worry was).

But at the same time you would be one of the few to own a Dwarf but they are quite plain when compared to the Snowflake, known fish eaters from what I have read(So no other fish), and the price.

Thanks. Still haven't decided yet. My tank is a 75 gal fowlr.
True, the dwarf is rather plain looking. My friend has offered it to me at a very generous price.
I had a snowflake years ago, with a different tank setup and tank mates. It was a bit nippy with the other fish as it grew bigger, but only seemed to happen at feeding time.

Both the dwarf and snowflake are about the same size (8-9") with the dwarf a bit thicker bodied. Would they be compatible together if introduced at the same time?

8" Snowflake he's just a baby perfect age to start training and no you shouldn't have any problems.

As for the nipping, that is normal if you don't get him to eat in his hole. If you feed them out of it they have horrible eye sight so they go off scent and since fish sort of smells like fish food they nip at anything that smells good rarely will they kill and eat.

if you have a chance to get a golden dwarf moray go for it snowflakes are dull compared to a golden

you better mean in color, cause this is probably the most curious inquisative fish i've ever owned... if only he weren't such a jumper

yeah if you're planning on keeping with with clown gobies and baby cardinalfish

i seriously don't think these guys can swallow anything bigger, he seems ot have problems horking down the chopped mussel and krill i give em
