morays territorial?

i have a gtile eel in my brackish tank and he has been alone for a while and i just added a new archer and when my archer sat near the eels lair he snapped his jaws multipul times like he was mad and scared the archer away he didnt want to eat the archer since he ignores him all day and i feed him krill on a feeding prong every day but acts aggresive when something is near his liar he used to share that spot with a silver datnoid but when it died from refuseing to eat the goldfish i put in for him he was just too lazy but the eel has been alone now for a couple months but was just wondering if eels are territorial like that since im adding more archers monos and a new datnoid or two and i would also like to add a small gymnothorax polyuranodon and i dont want them fighting

I've read they can be territorial, and as long as you have lots and lots of hiding spots, it shouldn't be a problem.

I keep mine in a brackish tank with a "freshwater toadfish" and at night, he will lay in the toad's hidey hole with the toadfish, but during the day, he stays in his own hole.
