So I got a call from my guy at the LFS again yesterday that new angels had come in, he knows my angel tank ( and my fish tanks first hand ) idea pretty well. He told me he had wild altums, body size 1.5-2" and about 7-8" tall, and wild peruvian scalares about 1/2-3/4 dollar size in.
So I went in today to have a squizz. The altums were awesome, the peruvians sold out. He told me he could order if I wanted so I ordered 4. Then we spoke about the altums and as per usual he gave me a good deal so I bought 8 altums. The peruvians he is hoping will arrive next week, he will let me know and deliver them.
The best of all is, he is holding the altums for me for 3 weeks and helping to acclimatize them slowly to a higher pH, so I have time to get my 160 gal ready for them and when they come they should be happy at a pH of about 7.3 which is my tap water.
So by mid April I will have 6 wild caught leopoldi, 8 wild caught altums, 4 wild caught peru scalares and 8 farm raised scalares. Each of the three species will have their own "biotopical" tank.
Sorry it's long winded I know. Couldn't help it.
