South Central...
I've had 4 box turtle eggs incubating for the last couple months and they just started to hatch on Saturday. 2 have hatched out completely and absorbed their egg yolks. Sadly, the 3rd to pip seems to have died during the night while hatching but a 4th turtle is hatching as we speak and looks healthy.

4th hatching.

Owesame to the infinite  I really miss breeding something other then woodlice, roaches, crikets and worms.

Sweet!! Didnt know you found more eggs

Congrats, they look great! How many breeding adults do you have now?

Also, do you keep the babies yourself, or sell them on?

Best,
Paul

Well technically I have 2 females of my own. The male is on loan from a friend and the 3rd female turtle belongs to a cousin of mine. It's crashing here while she finishes medical school.

Over the years I've just released the babies back into the wild as they are illegal to sell here and I'm only doing this to help out the wild population. We have a lot of dumb laws concerning this species in my state unfortunately. A particular member on here who will remain unnamed reminded me about how I've been wanting to contact someone in the State Agencies for years to see about acquiring a special permit to allow me to breed and release this species for conservation purposes. Well I contacted a friend of the family the other day who is very high up on the board with the State Fish & Game and he is in the process of working something out with the Fish and Boat Commission who are the ones that deal with reptiles. It has to get approved by the board I'll be the only person in the state with this permit. Gotta love knowing the right people!

Yup, I actually caught my one female burying eggs back in the late spring.
