As some of you may know I caught about 20 peacock around 3" a while ago in an attempt to raise them. I only had a 30 gallon tank so I couldnt keep up with it and let them go.

Today I was fishing, and I usually see the mom with the small peacocks that I released under this tunnel where the mom protects them and I can watch them come out slowly and attack guppies on the surface then retreat back into the tunnel. Its the coolest things, like watching my sons all grown up haha.

Anyhow, today I was fishing and I saw a 3 stripe female, the mono/ocel typical florida hybrid. BUT! the male she was with only had 2 stripes which ive never seen other than on this forum. Im not sure if this is a real 2 stripe or maybe he just didnt come out right or what. Check it out.

I caught the mother first by mistake, I wasnt really going after them since I saw they had about 1000 1cm fry with them. She happen to attack the lure first so... oh well.

They were both released right after the pics, and since 1 stayed with the fry the whole time they swam back to each other.

well arent you lucky!!!!!i want to watch pbass in the wild.sweet catch all you need now is a monster tank so you can take home your catch.i like to c&r but sheesh if i were you i will start stockin lol

Thanks, any idea about that 2 spot?

Yea im working on getting a bigger tank so that I can. I hope to catch the fries and raise them so they have more of a success rate. Theres about 40 4" babies with the mom I usually see, thats not alot out of a 8000 laying lets say, so I hope to increase the pbass.

The 2 I caught above had thousands of small fry, 1cm at the most, cant wait til theyre atleast 1". I love fishing my peacock bass, they give such a good fight-they jump, flop, dive down, its awesome you never know if theyre going to come off the hook.

I caught 2 more that were breeding.
