Stopped by Petsmart today after work to pick up some crickets and see when they were getting another 125g tank in and of course had to check out the fish while I was there. I suprised to see several new species, including Congo Tetras for only $3.99! Needless to say, they're now sold out and I have six more to add to my school once they get through QT and grow out a bit. I floated the bag in my other Congos' tank while I set-up their QT, so here's the old school meeting the new school...

Unfortunately they're so small and my camera skills are so lacking I couldn't get any decent shots in the QT, but heres a couple just before I put them in...

Can't wait for these guys to grow up and join the rest. Should be awesome to watch a group that big :D

Awesome! Congo Tetras are probably my favorite Characins. I was thinking of getting them again:)

I have a school of about ten all 3-4", great dither fish, plus they are great on their own..Never seen them so small are they yellow's or blue's?

They are in my cichlid grow out tank...

wow, so how big do congo tetras get exactly? been looking for a larger tetra for my moms tank

Fishbase lists them at 8.0 cm TL (3.14") but I'd say closer to 4". I'll be upgrading their tank soon and I'll try to get an accurate measurement of my largest male - he's a beast :D

I'm assuming they are the standard blue P. interruptus. The yellows are actually a seperate species, P. caudalis which I have yet to see in person.

Really awesome fish, certainly one of my all-time favorites
