I know, I know, wrong forum. But I like you guys "sniff". Besides, a few of you have already shown that you know a thing or two about them. Question 1) How big do they eventually get? Question 2) Do they maintain there brilliant coloring as they get to 8 or 10 inches? Or does it start to wash out? Any other traits you think are relevent (You know, like they are prone to attacking small children in their eyes) please let me know.

Ive seen some larger Distichodus all washed out, but ive also seen some with some nice coloration. They suppossedly get over 24 inches. As far as traits, I've heard stories of them attacking FISH in their eyes. I personally have a a D. lussusso who is a total bastard to other fish that are his size or smaller. All that aside, it is a nice looking large characin.

With the 4 I have had in the past, they all got along well with bigger arowanas, but would chase everything else in the tank around.

One in particular would chase a 13" FF around all the time, pulling off scales with each hit, the DS only being 5" in size....I eventually removed FF.

I have had them nip the fins of bichirs, and gars that were in the tank with them.

As for their colour, I have always fed them shrimp, maybe helping them keep their colour longer.

I find that they tend to loose their colour at about 10-12"

I like these guys, but always end up, with them pissing me off:irked: , with their behaviour toward other fish.....and trade them in....

Been thinking of grabbing another. Might luck out with a docile one.:naughty:
