ummmmmmm............for the first time i actally seen my dovii eat pellets...(cichlid gold).she seems very happy after i did a 50 percent water changes.I kno males get human agressive.but do female get that way also.becuase ive seen videos of pairs and males seem to be causing drama instead of the female.:confused:should i feed my female vegeatables also.and would earthworms help her get bigger faster.I cant wait till i get my bigger tank.I am thinking about getting a 250 or 265,becuase they are on sale for $1259 for a oak setup.I plan on using 4 ac 500 on that tank and a magnum 350 pro but thats another story

you can if you want. Its probably just setteled in the tank and i wouldnt try switching the foods yet. But you can if you want. I think the any dovii would get humanly aggressive but mainly males. All depends on the fish. I've had mine for about 3months and she is still very very very shy. earthworms would help her get bigger a little faster but i wouldnt until you are sure when your are getting the larger tank because i wouldnt want her to out grow the tank befor i have another one to put her in. How do you know its a female?

you can feed your dovii anything really besides feeder fish... my motas and jags used to love krill, as well as earthworms, and the occasional cricket or two...

earthwoms are good for her to eat.. way better than feeders
you could also try mealworms or superworms..

protien = size

Large frequent water changes = size. Food is second. During a recent talk at the ACA convention, Wayne Leibel pointed out that this is the single biggest factor for adding size to cichlids. Females do not get as aggressive as males. Not sure what you mean by "humanly aggressive". Most of the quality pellet on the market contain some form of vegetable matter.

Be careful with earthworms. Remember as they eat they pass soil through their system. If they are raised in soil treated with pesticides, they could carry the chemical to the fish. A good way of cleaning them out prior to feeding to fish is to place them between a couple thick sheets of wet newspaper. As they navigate the newspaper, they will excrete the soil in their body making them less messy to feed. Try r=feeding raw shrimp with shell. Avoid ALL STORE BOUGHT FEEDERS. Feeding feeders is just plain stupid and dangerous for your fish. Why take a chance on giving potential poison to a valued pet.

You don't have to feed large amounts of food...nor do you have to feed every day. Don't get sucked into "power feeding".

the only thing my dovii will consume is earthworms or cichlid gold.I am trying to get hyer on vegetable matter after she is used to her surrondings.
