Ok so my 80g had been getting high levels of nitrate lately with weekly water changes. My stock is one 10inch black rhom. I have a ac 110 and I'm thinking of going to get another one. Would 2 110's be to much circulation?

Additional filters will not decrease your nitrate level. Water changes is what will bring down you nitrate level, therefore your water change routine is inadequate. You stated that you do weekly water changes, but you never stated the percentage. A weekly water change of 10% is drastically different from that of 80%.

If you don't have ammonia or nitrites, then you're filtration is adequate. As xraycer xraycer said, added filtration will not decrease nitrates. Increased water changes will decrease nitrates.

IMO no such thing is to much filteration..for me the more the better and filteration doesnt fixed your water parameter, water change is the key. If yo do 30% water change weekly, increase to 50%. etc..

All my set ups are 8X-10X turnover rate, so I definitely prefer plenty of filtration. However, there does come a point where there's no longer any additional filtration achieved, and all you're accomplishing is increasing water flow and expending unnecessary electrical usage. So, I would say there's definitely such a thing as over filtration. Is it a bad thing?.........only if its too much current for your fish
