Once while working at Petsmart, a lovely gentleman come into the store with a dirty 5 gallon paint bucket with a lid. If you know much about corporate lfs, we do not take fish in as donations; it's just not part of policy. So when he approached me and told me very loudly that we -WOULD- take the fish, because if not, he'd dump them in the parking lot and go home to get back to packing to move (what IS it with people deciding to leave their fish and various pets behind when they move?), I kept telling him that we could not, in fact, help him. After a good shouting match, a cashier finally came over and said she would take the fish and put them in her pond. The guy yelled at me a bit more, then finally left. Thank the gods.
So I start to take the fish from the bucket, and this guy didn't just bring in common Africans, or even goldfish. There were two adult discus, one 5 inch long black ghost knife, several cory cats, pictus cats, and others. In other words, expensive fish that could have made him a few bucks had he gone to a private lfs and just acted nice.
Amazing.
