More heater lessons

It is a good idea to rely on two smaller heaters rather than one huge one, because the huge one can get "stuck" and never turn off. If one small one gets stuck, the results are not as catastropic, because the other turns off. That way if a malfunction occurs, the tank is not heated as quickly and not as hot. It learned this the hard way last week, and nearly had a disaster. In other words, use two 150 watt heaters instead of a 300 watt, or whatever applies in your case.

i fried a fh by having the thermostat stick on a 300w heater on a 29g tank. it was a cold morning and when i walked into the living room the tank was literally steaming. stunk like ****. fh was cooked throughi should have ate him but gave him to the cat instead.

I almost cooked myself though when my 300 W heater have hair line cracks and I place my hand into the sump

luckily withdrew my hand fast enough...

That happened to my freinds 75, both his heaters inside cracked at the same time. WIERD
