Continuous Siphon Overflow Box 600GPH

has anyone used this system or a system like this ... i would like to set up a sump for my ray tank but dont want to drill my tank .. just trying to get an idea on how i would do this...

and what happens if a power outage .. and if the system looses siphon .. things like this ..

really any information on this system or something that does the same thing would be great ..

Thank you!!

This is basically the same thing as normal overflow, it just uses a formed acrylic "tube" to transfer the water. The tube is to attach a powerhead or an aqualifter to remove any air that gets trapped.

Should work just fine.

looks to be even better ... i have been thinking about setting up a sump to go along with my Fx5 ... this might be Perfect .. was thinking about using a plastic storage bin tower in a moving tub to save as much money as possible .. i saw a guy who built a frame around the tub so it would not bow and had this set up .. looked GREAT!!!

so with some simple modifications i could set it up to hold my heaters, UV, and the filtration with this system ..

also .. this system would keep working fine when the power goes out and comes back on correct?? i would not have to worry about the tank draining to much water when the power goes out as long as there is not to much water in the tank/sump. and when it comes back on the pump on this system will start the siphon correct? so that when the return pump turns back on it wont pump all the water out of the sump and run dry...

seem like a safe bet?

The overflow alone....no. There is always the chance you will lose the siphon somehow and water will overflow out of your tank. However, there is a way to safeguard this by using an aqualifter to maintain and re-start the siphon (if needed).

If you scroll down to post number 86 on this page there are a couple pics of how I rigged mine up using an aqualifter to prevent overflow....

that system has a lifter on it??:screwy::naughty:

"Use of Aqua Lifter Pump is necessary to prevent trapped air from the siphon. Combine with Aqua Lifter Filter, a suction-style floss debris filter, to maximize efficiency and use of the Aqua Lifter Pump."

The aqualifter is listed as an optional part. I'm saying you should def get it to safeguard the system from losing siphon. Thats why I said the overflow ALONE is not a safe bet.

ohh yea .. i was reading the description so i took it as a major part of the system .. but you could buy it alone if you needed a new one or already had one ..

HOB overflows are pretty great.. the aqualifter pumps are a really nice safe gaurd.. you can always add them to whatever you come up with (drill and some silicone).. the eshopps hobs are great but a bit loud.. however a hour of work with a dremel, pvc and some silicone solves that.. ive got a diy somewhere for the one i did... rallysman has an AMAZING diy that he did for HOB overflows..
