My young group of Stomatepia Pindu, of Lake Barombi Mbo, Cameroon were recently moved into their next size tank, a 40g with driftwood, black sand and plants. Their tankmates are a group of 1 yr old Madagascar cichlids; Ptychochromis sp. 'tarantsy' from my adult pair's first spawn in June of 2013. There's also an albino BNP that does a great job keeping the glass and wood clean.
This video was filmed a few minutes after a severe thunderstorm. Note, the fish are so black they're barely visible in the tank. Since the pindu are only about 5 or 6 months old, they don't have adult (black) coloration and as juveniles are usually a dark/silvery gray with small flecks of black. During the storm, all the fish stayed on the right side of the tank, further from the window. Their color changed to a gorgeous dark velvety black.
