I have a 75 gallon saltwater tank wanted to use a ac110 for xtra media. I want to use bio-balls in it. Any suggestions on this or something else to use.

I was told that bioballs wouldn't be effective in eheims and aquaclears by the manager of my lfs. He said its not the same as when they are used w/ the trickle down method of a wet/dry filter. I use ac110 on my 125s as extra filtration w/ the sponge block and a big bag of chemi pure, works well 4 me.

Bio balls are great for breaking streams of water down into drops of water in wet/dry trickle filters. They are pretty much a waster in submerged applications.

Ceramic and sintered glass media is great for submerged media because of its large surface area for volume. I usually buy the Eheim brand submerged media but there are other great submerged medias out there.
