As some of you know im new to cichla, but im getting addicted very fast.

I was rather worried about my baby bass as it was panting hard today, i checked the water params and have nothing significant to report the ammonia was 0 nitirite was 0 and nitrate below 20.

Then i checked the PH it was 8.5 which was higher than the tap water at 7.8 ? so i guess it was this.

I have remedied it by making 2 water changes using a 50/50 mix of ro and tap water and i have got the ph now down to 7.8. the hardness looks fine.

The temp is 82 and i have a air pump running full power in the quarantine tank.

do you think he will be ok?

I could transfer him to my 100 gall but im worried about how the other fish will react although they are all growouts themselves ( texas, red devil, parrots etc) they can be prety fiesty the biggest is the parrot at 6" the devil is only 3" and the texas are 2-3"

Any tips advice so welcome as im planning on getting another few of them for growing on..
