i got a free third alligator gar when my friend could not house him ... now i have a free DAT as well (two to be precise)

Gar is not a difficult fish to keep as long as the keeper got sufficient space for the tank

My comment has nothing to do with level of care the fish need or tank sizes..

It has more to do with the keepers of them not willing to do even basic research on them. These really are not hard fish to care for but they are not for a novice either.
