I had a great idea for a Purigen Filter. The ZooMed Turtle Clean 501 is a small filter made for Turtle Tanks. I already have more than enough filtration for my tank, but I was wondering what all of you though of this. The Turtle Clean is made to have a HUGE carbon chamber but very little biomedia space. Since turtles are messy, the carbon helps keep the smell down. If I buy one of these and instead of filling it with carbon, fill it with purigen packs, do you think this will keep my nitrates low? It will most likely contain 4-5 times the amount of purigen needed to keep the tank clean. I am pretty sure that this will work. What do you all think? Ewurm already knows what I am talking about.

I think it would be an excellent alternative to carbon, and totally rechareable. Just remeber to recharge only half at once. It takes about 24 hours to recharge properly.

Ewurm,

I think we should start getting a stipend from SeaChem soon for all of this promoting! Within the next few weeks, the Purigen Filter will be built and I will post pictures of the setup. I am going to start offering this to customers because it seems to be working. My cloudiness has gone down and my tank looks awesome. Also, if my new driftwood leaks a little bit of tannic acid into the tank, the Purigen should pull it out before the tank is tea colored.

Seachem T-shirts for everyone!

 Is this for aquarium or turtleium?

Wouldn't an AC200 loaded with purigen be cheaper and push more water if it's for an aquarium?

What is your primary filtration? A simple media bag filled and zip tied will do just a good. Easy to use in any HOB, Magnum, sump, W/D or canister.

I think that this canister will hold a lot more purigen than any HOB filter. Besides, I do not have space for any Aquaclears, I have 2 BioWheel 350s running.
