I've had the tsn for about a week and half now and don't think its eating is this normal? how long till it starves itself to death? The place I got it thinks I need to treat for internal parasites. They also told me when they got it all the whiskers were melted off and had acid/ammonia burns. Does this fish have any chance?

First off... what size tank, is it cycled, what is the water change schedule, what are the parameters of the water, how big is the fish, and what have you tried to feed it?

Tank size 125 gal. Been set up for over 9 mo with diff fish. Been doing 25% wc daily since he was added and 50% before that as it is a planted tank. Par are good am seeing a false amonia of less than 0.25 ppm, o nitrites, nitrates are at about 50 ppm, and ph is 7.8. Fish is about 7 in and have tried feeding shrimp pellets, shrimp from market raw fresh, mealworms, nightcrawlers, flake if it wants as anglefish gatta eat to, and went back to lfs and got some shrimp pellets they said it had been eating. And right now I am tring to caught him to put him in a 10 gal to monitor if he is eating for sure or not and possibly medicate.

opps forgot them added 25 rosies in that too forgot to list it on this thread. I am starting to not be very happy with this fish store as they will rip people off that are regulars and don't seem to care, but have the most knolageble staff in town. I don't know how long these guys can go without eating but I'm starting to think it might just be a lost cause. I like the fish and if it means getting a diff tank to house it then I will overcome that when the time comes, but don't want to throw money at a fish that doesn't seem as if it has good odds to pull through. Opions please and thanks for all the help so far.

it will eat. start dropping 1-2 pellets at a time next to it in the water. after 1-2 weeks the TSN will devour everything near it. these things are tricky at first but will turn around in just a day. i starved my first TSN for 10 days then got him eating frozen shrimp for a few days then pellets.

TSN, I have found to be extremely resilient. I wouldn't write him off. As mentioned it takes patience and persistence to get them to eat, but once they do, they will eat very aggressively. At least in my experiences.

my TSN is somewhat of a drama queen, Whenever I move it to a different tank it stops eating for 1-2 weeks, so I wouldn't get to worried
