was wondering can you have more than 1 batta in a tank i would love to get 2 or more for my 125 (when it becomes planted). I know they are extremely aggressive in small tanks to each other but in a big tank will it work.

You could put more than 1 female betta in a tank together. I don't think two male bettas would work unless there was a barrier separating them.

Hmmm...a 125g is a good amount of space for a couple of Bettas. It may work...it may not work. It would definitely be more successful in a 180g, but a 125g is a hit or miss, IMO. Once they find each other, there will be problems, but it would definitely be plenty of space for the other to escape if it's losing the fight...depending if they don't fight to the death:eek:

I probably wouldn't risk it.

You could do one male and a few females. I have that set-up right now and everyone is fine. Of course, there is the personality of the fish itself to consider as each one is very different from the next. So it is a bit of a risk if you dont know each of the fish. If you want to try it out, just be ready to permanently separate them.

i think its possible as long as the tank is heavily planted. in nature bettas live in ponds and lakes and its not like they are each seperated into tiny little ponds to themselves. i believe it can be done and obviously the more room the better but a 125g IMHO would be enough to risk trying it. be prepared so seperate just incase

I've tried 3 males in a lightly planted 70g tank, it work as long as there are many deco like driftwood and plants to established boundaries

yup i had two males in a 120g also they do fine as long as they have room to retreat to a hidding spot they are fine. just make sure that the weak one get enough food

i had 2 males in a 30g planted without any problems. i think that their agression is overstated.
