I already had a 10" widebar. I got another today (about 11") got him acclimated and put him in the tank. As soon as I did the one I had started punking him right away. No bitting, he just has him pinned in the corner.

How does everyone keep them together?

Yes, but either as single specimens or as 3 or more to form a shoal. A pair will usually result in a dominant individual bullying the other. With 3 or more, the dominance still exists from the alpha specimen. But, the aggression is dispersed among all members of the shoal instead of being focused on a single individual

I was hoping they were not like aros. It was hard enough getting this one, let alone a shoal of widebars. Maybe I get the pbass out I can put in my 2 thinbars and my ngt.

Yeah...I got a group of six and everyone told me that if I lowered the number, there'd be hell to pay.

its probably because they are of similar size , if you added a smaller 5-6''er in with the 10''er it would be less of a problem only having the 2.
see if anyone is willing to swap for a smaller ST or buy more smaller datnoid species to up the numbers.

this sounds like a good idea chad....I'll get you a 5-6" for the 11 or 10" one:D :D :D

I have 3 STs in my tank 1 9" 1 10" and 1 5" my 2 larger ones pick on each other but the smaller one gets left alone....

Yep this is true; I have 5 pulchers ranging from 9-12" the alpha is approximatley 11" and chases all the other dats around but at least the aggression is spread out.

These are my first ST. I have had no problems before with 8 NGT's and 2 thinbars. I don't remember seeing any aggression. I have a 6-7 in NGT I gould throw in the mix, I just hope the bass are not hungy...

The new guy did take some shrimp this morning. Also looks alot more stable than yesterday.
