is it ok to keep 3 black ghost knifefish in a tank together? of course with separate hiding spots. also along with pictus cats and bala sharks.

They will most likely fight to the death

I will never say never because some people get away with some weird things, but unless your tank is huge or you get really really really really lucky, they will kill each other.

I seen some as small as 2 inches continuosly fight. Just recently, a 2-3 inch one snapped out of the blue (was in a group tank) and killed 7 bgks of the same size in one night.

we keep no bgk over 4 inches in a tank with another bgk.

yeah ive seen more than one at my lfs, but they dont fight there, but if they would, i wouldnt put them together. theres always one hiding in a piece of tubing while the others hover around the pipe.

Im'm no expert nor do I know much at all, lol
But to my understanding...

BGK's along with other fish like elephants and othe knives, shouldn't be kept together because of an organ that produces small electrical charges to help them find food, which will be a problem when all of them are looking for food, personally I would just keep one.

They are some awsome fish, trust me use tubifex cubes too. :)
Mine rips at them like a pitbull. :)

yeah. where can i find pipes for them to hide in? i heard that they like them, but id like to get something that is big enough for it when it reaches full size, but they like clear tubing just as much as normal ones, plus you get to see them then too. but tinted stuff works too, kinda dispurses some of the light which they like but you can still see them thru it. i think my lfs uses hamster cage tubing for the small bgk's

they are hovering around the tube because they would like to go in the tube, but the one in there would whoop its ass if it tried haha
