More than one species of Arapaima

interesting, so most in the aquarium trade are the same species?? i'd like to see some sort of chart or something pointing out the differences :/
 
wow... this kinda changes everything lol. now there is going to be arapaima grading.
 
The way the article puts it, the other three species aren't really around much anymore.
"However, one thing is almost certain; they are highly unlikely to be A. gigas, mapae or agassizii, as these three are known only from the preserved holotype specimens in museum collections. Captive fish are most probably A. arapaima."
Are they extinct or just rare? Could any of them be in captivity somewhere?

Because they are captive raised and bred on fish farms, NOT taken from the wild.
 
you can only have captive bred apramias and i love all their face looks its got that metaliac shine
