Just been looking through the threads and it seems meal worms are no good for arowanas as diet goes. I brought my rtg about a year ago and have been feeding him just morio worms. I did try to stave him for about 4-6 weeks but to no avail. He will not accept any other types of food eg pellets, prawns etc.

My question is if I feed the morio worms Hickari pellets first, will it provide a better diet?

Also what live instect/fish provide the best diet?

Thanks guys.

dunno but i raise my aros with mainly mealworm but of course i feed a varied diet

I read that mealworm's shell are harder to digest than superworms shell... And I think it will help improve your arowana's diet if you gut loaded it with pellets. My arowana has been feeding mainly on superworms almost everyday he gets them and during the weekends I feed him ghost shrimps. And if I'm feeling like it, I go to the fridge and find some meaty stuff like fish or prawns for my aro.. That was then, now I have a new variety:
>Superworms and mealworms mainly
>Ghost shrimps
>Feeder carp OR minnow OR tilapia
>Crickets
>Earthworms
>Market Prawns

When he gets bigger like 1 foot or so I will start getting frogs and if I feel like it centipedes...

Currently I gut load all of my food with various fish food like: Aquadene micro pellets, Golden Gro High Superior Growth Floating Pellets, West Sun Red Parrot Fish Food, Sinking pellets and turtle sticks. I overfeed my feeders alot...

Lastly, superworms, mealworms and crickets contain are nutritionally useless unless you gutload them.

Good Luck with your aro

ill list what i feed my aro:
earthworm/night crawler,mealworm/superworm,FD krills,MP,basa fillet,beef heart,small frog,crickets

have you tried letting the pellets soak and get soft. hikari has some aro food that when soft has a texture like meat. eventually my aro just eats them without having to presoak them.

My BB is addicted to meal worms. If i let him have them then it will go on hunger strike for weeks before he will accept to take market prawn again - very annoying. Red is same to lesser extent.

I don't think these are nutritionally useless even when not gutloaded.
